Congratulations to everyone on their fine efforts at grading!
Special congratulations to our new 1st Dan Black Belt Sebastian Schultz - well Done!
Nikilya Ralitsoele also received her Dan Certificate having completed her 6 months training and Dan Check.
THANK YOU!
We have done it! With the generous donations from our members and excellent support for our Halloween and Barnyard fundraisers we have managed to Buy 100 puzzle cut mats for the new area of our dojang! We have also been able to purchase 2 gymnastic crash mats and have 2 training wedges custom made for our tumbling classes. There is still lots to do before the new area is fully kitted out, we can however now train safely and begin our new WAKO training programme in earnest!
Seasons Greetings and wishes for a restful and fun filled holiday period.
We will re-open on Monday 10th of January!

EXTENSION AND RENOVATION @ ALCHEMY
Alchemy is the culmination of years of hard work, determination and vision. For Marsha and I it is literally a dream come true. In line with that vision of having the best Martial Art and fitness centre in the country we have expanded the main Dojang to a whopping 260m^2. We have also had the lighting revamped throughout the whole downstairs area and upgraded the Pilates and Yoga studio with new dimmable lighting. This process of constant improvement will continue until the complete vision has been fulfilled!
To help equip the new 130m^2 area we are launching our sponsor a mat campaign - each block / mat costs R 150, and is roughly 1m^2 so we want to buy around 121 of these! Any donations big or small will be gladly accepted. We are also looking at utilising the new area for family style classes and for gymnastic equipment to help train our competitors in these aspects - Please keep an eye out for these on the time-table and support our fundraising events to these ends.
The first of these will be our Halloween Ball on Saturday the 30th of October so please put this date in your diaries to come dress up and join in the fun and entertainment!

ALCHEMY TRAINING CAMP
The training was comprehensive and all the students got to work with various weapons, grappling and self defense. We did a special session on breakfalls and throws and went into the hidden applications behind certain moves in the forms. Great fun and challenging were Marsha’s morning yoga sessions!
Many thanks to all who attended and the parents whose support made it all possible! Can’t wait for next year!

CHRISTMAS IN JULY ALCHEMY DOJANG FUNDRAISER - 25TH JULY 2009 - 7pm TILL LATE!
The event lived up to it’s billing as the party of the year. The décor sensationally transformed the Dojang into a winter palace complete with crystal chandeliers and penguins on the tables! The four course feast provided by Gourmet Food Services was scrumptious and of such variety that we kept having to go back for more… The combination of Belly Dance, classical and tribal with Tang Soo Do and Haedong Kumdo was a smash hit blowing the audience away and setting the tone for the great party that followed. Thank you to Stage and Audio Works whose lighting and sound equipment made all the difference. Thank you to everyone who supported this great event see you again next year

OPEN DAY AT ALCHEMY HEALTH AND FITNESS CENTRE
7th March 2009
Festival of Martial Arts, fitness and dance at the Alchemy Open Day!
Visitors to the Alchemy Health and Fitnes Centre Open Day were dazzled by the scope of the activities available for all ages and the additions to the multi-dimensional centre. Adults, kids and teenagers enthusiastically joined in the fun, participating in the various demonstration sessions . It was a real family Fun Day.
The redecorated centre is a modern designed, double storey, with fully equipped Martial Arts Dojangs for five different types of Martial Arts: Tang Soo Do, Tai Chi, Viet Vo Dao, TaiBo/Kickboxing and Haedong Kumdo. It has a Pilates, Fitball, and Yoga studio. There are two mirrored dance studios for Argentinian Tango, Belly Dancing and, for the young moderns - Hip Hop lessons given by the No Limits dance instructors. While the Little Dragons from age 4 are learning martial arts, mum can be getting fit with Pilates or her choice of dance lessons. Dad meanwhile can be doing whatever form of martial arts he prefers. There is a sports or recreational activity all ages. A Sports Massage Room and a Treatment Room, (aromatherapy, reiki etc.) with fully trained experts catering for those who need specialised treatment for injuries. And finally a small weights gym for the all round get fit enthusiast
OPEN DAY started with everyone shaking their hips and swaying to the movement the Gypsy Rhythms dancers enticed by the exotic Belly Dancing demonstration of Candida Di Giandominico and Vanessa John whose sensuous display had visitors joining in the open session.
In another studio Marsha Forbes-Hart was explaining the basics of Pilates, the low impact core based discipline favoured by most of the Hollywood stars to keep in shape. The Pilates group then went through a demonstration class showing aspects of Pilates, Yoga and the gym ball.
Tango Tensity's Bert and Brigitte, just back from Buenos Aires, showed the enthralled crowd the basics of the Tango "the man's dance", said Bert "simply walking with your partner in a close embrace to the beat of the music", their passionate demonstration had everyone on the floor thoroughly enjoying trying out the Tango movements.
Also upstairs, in another mirrored studio, the No Limits Dancers with Haloya showed the teenagers a sample of Hip Hop and mazed everyone with the energy of their funky routines.
Following them Sifu Manni Barstz and his team gave a demonstration of graceful Tai-Chi to the enthusiastic visitors.
Master Gregory Hart was up next in the main Dojang, and his team thrilled visitors with the fluid flowing sword strokes of Haedong Kumdo, the ancient sword art from Korea.
The Vietnamese martial art team of Viet Vo Dao, led by Black Belt Paul Mombey, were impressive with their focus and power, exhibiting various empty hand and weapons aspects of their unique art.
Tang Soo Do ( the martial art favoured by Chuck Norris) kicked off with the Little Dragons aged between 4 - 6 yers old who amazed all, displaying real martial arts skill with huge enthusiasm.
The Combat Kids were up next they showed their great discipline, and impressed with pine board breaks using punches and flying kicks.
Master Gregory and his Blackbelts and Senior Adults brought the day to a spectacular climax with beautifully synchronised Forms and Weapons displays. A closing demonstration of perfect Forms at Master level from Master Gregory Hart ending in a 6 roof tile smash dramatically finished an amazing day and brought the house down.

ASSOCIATION CAMP - 26TH - 29TH September 2008
This past weekend saw 12 Alchemy students and Master Gregory join more than 60 other students from around the country for our annual Combat Tang Soo Do and Haedong Kumdo training camp.
There was a full programme of 2 1/2 days of intense training with guest instructors from AMOK! on the Saturday showing us ground fighting and grappling as well as two stick fighting.
Sunday was devoted to Tang Soo Do with emphasis on sparring skills, correct kicking and Traditional Forms. We also began the process of sorting out our Presidents and National Squads for the up coming Tang Soo Do tour to Malaysia in September next year.
Sunday the focus shifted to Haedong Kumdo and we worked on team forms for the World Championships in Korea next year around September. Later in the morning Master Gregory and the other instructors and some senior dan members learnt new double sword forms!
Thanks to Grandmaster and all the Masters for a great camp!
